We will buy additional F-35s, benefitting from the substantial UK workshare they bring, and we will grow our combat air industry through development of Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCAs) to fly alongside our 4th and 5th generation fighters, backed by 300m of investment. In combination, this establishes our pathway to GCAP as we make significant steps towards the RAF becoming Europe’s first 6th Generation Air Force.

The RAF combat air force provides the core of UK IAMD capability, with Typhoon and F-35 defending UK and NATO skies against air and cruise missile attack, supported by Voyager tankers and Wedgetail early warning aircraft. Through the 2030s, we expect CCAs to also play a key role in IAMD.

“I would say all that there is strong interest from all of the [Eurofighter] users – all 10, recognising that Türkiye is not yet a user. We are seeing it from the global fleet of [Eurofighter] users,” Hamilton said on 18 June 2026. Besides the UK, the Eurofighter customer base comprises the other partner countries of Germany, Italy and Spain, as well as export customers Austria, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye.

Hamilton notes that BAE only began exploring the feasibility of the Typhoon using APKWS at the end of 2025, describing it as “a rapid installation of something that’s very effective”. A first air-to-surface launch was conducted in February, followed within two months by an air-to-air shot made after software updates had been installed on the fighter’s Rafael Litening 5 targeting pod.

Airbus Defence and Space (DS) is working to fast track the operational fielding of crewed-uncrewed teaming (CUC-T) aboard the Eurofighter combat aircraft for the end of the decade.

“The demand from the customers is that we be ready [with this capability] early,” Dumont said. “We are going to fast track the timeline so that by 2029 a Eurofighter will be a command fighter – it is a key challenge ahead for us.”
As Dumont noted, the Eurofighter CUC-T effort is centered on the European Multiplatform Autonomous Reconfigurable and Secure (MARS) software that will equip both the manned combat aircraft and the unmanned collaborative combat aircraft (CCA). As previously described by Airbus DS, MARS is an open architecture, hardware-agnostic, modular, and scalable system that contains a “software brain” called MindShare, supported by artificial intelligence (AI) to replace a human pilot. Airbus DS announced earlier in 2026 that it was teaming with Kratos Defence and Security Solutions to fly the US company's XQ-58A Valkyrie CCA with the MARS system installed.
For CUC-T, MARS will be supported by the Eurofighter's Rafael Litening V advanced targeting pod, which Airbus DS is enhancing with a connectivity capability.

El permiso autoriza un nivel máximo de ruido de 111 decibelios. Sin embargo, este límite se superó aproximadamente a las 17:22 durante la última exhibición aérea con un Eurofighter español el 14 de junio. El punto de medición en Rotberg registró 112,8 decibelios. Esta información proviene de los informes de ruido publicados diariamente por el operador del aeropuerto durante la feria.

Básicamente de 3.200 personas, 12 salieron pilotos de caza. España genera eso más o menos eso, en torno a 10, 12 pilotos de caza al año.

En un vuelo de caza, la duración media es de una hora y media. Es decir, no son vuelos muy largos y por tanto no necesitas una alimentación que perdure todo ese tiempo. Sin embargo, sí que es cierto que hacemos vuelos de navegación que posicionalmente, por ejemplo, te he contado antes que nos vamos a Australia en breve. Pues ese vuelo, por ejemplo, son vuelos de siete horas y media. Esos vuelos se preparan de manera diferente. Tenemos que buscar un nivel de hidratación óptimo, pero que no sea excesivo para intentar evitar tener que evacuar líquidos. Y de alimentación un poco similar, quizás de absorción más lenta que te pueda permitir ese nivel de energía más continuado durante más tiempo. Si son vuelos largos, entonces tienes que ir hidratándote. Generalmente nos hidratamos, pues sí, a lo mejor agua desde luego un poco, sales o algún zumo.

King Fahd Air Base in Taif, Saudi Arabia, has marked a significant milestone in the Royal Saudi Air Force’s drive toward defense self-sufficiency, completing the first scheduled heavy maintenance overhaul of an RSAF Eurofighter Typhoon following the aircraft’s accumulation of 2,500 flight hours.
The operation was conducted entirely on Saudi soil over a period of 180 days, at a facility described as the only one of its kind outside Europe, by a workforce composed of 80 percent Saudi nationals.
