As part of Denmark’s new defense agreement for the Arctic and North Atlantic, an investment of 27.4 billion kroner is being made to strengthen security and operational capacity in Greenland 🇬🇱
The package includes:
➡️ Establishment of a new Arctic Command headquarters in Nuuk.
➡️ A new North Atlantic undersea cable connecting Greenland 🇬🇱and Denmark🇩🇰
➡️ Two new Arctic vessels, (in addition to the three currently in service)
expanded drone capabilities, and new maritime patrol aircraft.
➡️ Installation of an air surveillance radar in East Greenland.
➡️ Expansion of Nuuk Harbor to accommodate increased Arctic operations.
➡️ A regiment under Arctic Command.
➡️ Establishment of a specialized Arctic unit with a dedicated first responder capability under the Special Operations Command.
