http://www.defpro.com/news/details/7312/

Extraigo:

In Afghanistan, an F-15E Strike Eagle used guided bomb unit-38s to target an anti-Afghan forces weapons cache and a cave being used as an enemy outpost. The strikes took place after enemy personnel began firing on coalition and Afghan forces.

An Air Force MQ-1 Predator used a Hellfire missile to target enemy gunmen firing from a rooftop near Gereshk. The gunmen had been shooting at friendly ground forces, who in turn called in the airstrike.

Near Chahar Bagh, an Air Force MQ-9 Reaper released a GBU-12, hitting a group of enemy troops. The Reaper targeted the group after observing them in the process of emplacing an improvised explosive device.

A Navy F/A-18C Hornet carried out shows of force in Lashkar Gah and launched flares to suppress an enemy attack after Afghan security forces came under fire. The maneuver caused enemy personnel to cease fire and withdraw.

Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs performed shows of force in the vicinity of Ramak to deter enemy action while Afghan and coalition forces conducted a security sweep. Afghan National Police searched a mosque in which insurgents were believed to be basing their operations.

An A-10 conducted several shows of force over Kabul following an explosion near a coalition forward base. Personnel at the base requested shows of force to deter suspected anti-Afghan forces activity following the explosion.

In the Moqor area, a Royal Air Force GR-9 Harrier conducted a show of force over a convoy to deter enemy forces activity in the immediate area. The aircraft also conducted a route sweep to assist ground forces in locating hidden IEDs. A coalition aircraft also flew a show of force in the area as an additional preventive measure against anti-Afghan forces actions.

Joint terminal attack controllers assigned to coalition units verified the success of these missions.

In total, 76 close-air-support missions were flown in support of ISAF and Afghan security forces, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

B-1B makes impact throughout Southwest Asia due to new capabilities

Before late 2008, the B-1B Lancer was known primarily as a bomber, but since then the aircraft was modified to include the Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod now provides nontraditional intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to ground forces.
...
"Along with our legacy mission of weapons employment in a (close-air support) or interdiction role, we are now heavily engaged in missions such as (improvised explosive device) emplacement search, convoy support and armed overwatch of friendly positions," she said.
...
After having been in theater for 90 days, the squadron has flown more than 285 missions and has had jets in the air for more than 3,380 hours. During that time, they have responded to approximately 170 incidents where servicemembers were in direct combat with the enemy. In many of those cases, simply the presence of a B-1B made a difference to the ground forces.
...
"During one of our recent missions, we supported (ground troops in combat) but we did not drop weapons because the friendly forces were engaged in a very close fire fight," Colonel Fullmer said. "Friendly forces were firing back at an enemy firing position in a small enclosure. One of the enemy soldiers escaped from the back of the building and we were able to track him with our Sniper pod, mark him with an infrared marker in order to highlight his position so a nearby Apache helicopter could suppress the threat. Since it was nighttime, we had the capability to put an infrared beam on the guy, which we call a sparkle. When someone looks through night-vision goggles, it looks like a laser beaming from our jet down to the target. So we sparkled the (runner) and alerted an Apache, who then picked the beam up on his night-vision goggles, came in with his guns and (eliminated the threat)."

In Afghanistan, Navy F/A-18F Super Hornets conducted strafing runs against anti-Afghan forces in a treeline near Lashkar Gah. Friendly forces had begun receiving enemy fire shortly after departing a forward base.

In Farah, a B-1B Lancer conducted a strike targeting an anti-Afghan forces Heroin stockpile and a transport truck. The same aircraft also provided cover for a medevac operation after a convoy vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, escorting the convoy back to base once medical helicopters departed.

An Air Force A-10 flew a show of force over Qalat after Afghan and coalition troops took mortar fire. The maneuver suppressed further attacks.

A Navy Super Hornet conducted shows of force and expended flares in the area near Ghazni following an IED explosion and ambush against Afghan National Army troops. The maneuver stopped the attack allowing the ANA to withdraw and regroup from the scene of the ambush.

Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles and a Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet conducted shows of force near Qal-E-Naw, Qalat and Bagram to deter enemy forces. The aircraft prevented confrontation from taking place during security and reconstruction operations without needing to use lethal force.

Joint terminal attack controllers assigned to coalition units verified the success of these missions.

In total, 74 close air support missions were flown in support of the ISAF and Afghan security forces, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Integración del pod Sniper en el A-10C:
http://www.airforce-technology.com/news/news56861.html

The US Air Force has completed site activation of sniper advanced targeting pods (ATP) on A-10C aircraft at its Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tuscan and Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany.

A-10Cs enabled with the targeting pod will help the air force in locating, identifying, tracking and defeating both moving and stationary targets at long range.

Tooodos tienden a cazas polivalentes.
A mí me parece buen camino.
