Imagen

17:21 GMT, July 28, 2010 The Colombian Navy has today taken delivery of a CN235-300 MPA (Maritime Patrol Aircraft). The aircraft is equipped with the Airbus Military-developed Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS) which presents data gathered by a comprehensive battery of sensors to the two tactical operators and two pilots in an intuitive and usable format.

The sensor suite includes a search radar, which can locate and track ships, and an automatic identification system. An infrared camera can capture images and the aircraft is equipped to make digital video recordings of the missions for playback after missions.

The CN235-300 MPA for Colombia is qualified to carry out military surveillance missions such as economic exclusion zone monitoring, fishery patrol, and maritime interdiction as well as civic duties including search and rescue.

This CN235-300 MPA is the third Airbus Military aircraft that the Colombian Navy has acquired and will join two CN235-200 MPAs already in operation. The Colombian Military Forces are thoroughly familiar with the capabilities of the Airbus Military light and medium family of aircraft. The Colombian Air Force already operates four C295s and three CN235s.

To date, Airbus Military, the world leader in light and medium tactical aircraft, has sold 202 CN235s to 31 different operators. Of those, 32 are the MPA version and others have been upgraded from a previous military transport configuration.

Colombia quiere 6 Blackhawk más: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... otics.html
By Craig Hoyle

Colombia has requested the possible purchase of nine more Sikorsky UH-60L Black Hawk utility helicopters to support its counter-narcotics and armed forces modernisation efforts.

Outlined by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency on 5 August, the proposed $162 million deal would include the sale of four aircraft each to the Colombian army and national police force, and one to its air force.

"The Colombian air force intends to expand its existing medical evacuation architecture to expedite movement of injured personnel from combat zones," the DSCA says.

The proposed Foreign Military Sale would also include the provision of training services, spare parts and logistics support, according to its announcement.

Colombia muestra la intención de adquirir 12 KC-390: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... erest.html
By John Croft

Colombian officials have signed a declaration of intent with Brazil to take part in the development and production of the Embraer KC-390 military tanker/transport as well as to purchase 12 aircraft.

Along with similar arrangements in Chile, which could purchase six aircraft for the Chilean Air Force, and internal interest in Brazil for 28 aircraft with deliveries starting in 2016, Embraer's potential order count is up to 46 of the twin-jets. The airframer is discussing the program with other potential partners, including Portugal and South Africa, while continuing to evaluate suppliers.

"This is the first step toward bilateral negotiations that will establish the terms and conditions of Colombia's participation in the program," says Embraer in the 1 September announcement. Colombia's contribution to the program could also include a factory there for machined parts, Embraer adds.

IAI completa los vuelos de prueba de un B 767 convertido en tanquero para Colombia: http://www.defense-aerospace.com/articl ... an-af.html
(Source: Israel Aerospace Industries; issued September 5, 2010)

Itzhak Nissan, President and CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries: "We are proud to be working with such a distinguished customer as the Colombian Air Force, and are pleased to have been chosen to take on such critical projects as supplying and upgrading Kfir aircraft and supplying aerial refueling aircraft. These projects reflect IAI's strength and its integrative capabilities."

BEN GURION INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Israel --- A series of successful flight tests aimed at opening the flight envelope have been completed for the pre-owned B767-200ER (Extended Range) aircraft, converted by Bedek Aviation Group of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to a Multi Mission Tanker Transport (MMTT) configuration for the Colombian government and the end user, the Colombian Air Force.

The converted aircraft is equipped with two Wing Air Refueling Pods (WARPs) of the ARP3 model, developed and manufactured by IAI.

During the first 3.5-hour flight test, the full envelope, including altitude, speed, and Mach number, was opened without any flutter or buffet problems. Additional in-flight refueling tests of a C10 Kfir fighter jet, also produced by IAI, were successfully completed.

The MMTT pilot reported an extremely smooth flight with no technical events.

The air refueling system functioned very well, and the first hook-ups and fuel transfers were the most exciting moments of the flight. IAI's test pilot team that flew the aircraft reported that the systems performed flawlessly. The pilot of the Kfir (the aircraft being refueled) appreciated the easy, stable hook-up in each of the two WARPs.

As previously reported, IAI was awarded a multi-year contract in 2007 worth more than $150 million to upgrade the Colombian Air Force's Kfir aircraft. In June of 2009, the first Kfir aircraft were redelivered to the Colombians, and have been in operational activity ever since.

The tanker conversion project, which lasted more than two years, was completed by IAI's technicians, flight test pilots, and engineers, all of whom contributed to the development and integration of the air refueling system into the B767. Their dedication and hard work culminated in the minutes during which the tanker and the Kfir met in the air and performed the hook-up, an "exciting and proud" moment for those involved in the project.
...
In the coming days, the B767-200MMTT will perform additional flights before its redelivery to the Colombian Air Force.

Vuela por primera vez el nuevo entrenador para la FAC: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... light.html
By Craig Hoyle

Lancair International has performed the first flight of its new Synergy ab initio trainer for the Colombian air force, following the kit aircraft's assembly by state-owned aerospace company CIAC.

Lancair test pilot Pete Zaccagnino made the initial flight with the two-seat aircraft from Madrid, Colombia on 29 September. The trainer "performed well and met expectations", the company says.

Two more Colombian-assembled examples will be handed over to the air force this year under a 25-aircraft order, with the rest to enter use during 2011.

With a fixed landing gear and powered by a 210hp (155kW) Textron Lycoming IO-390 engine, the Synergy will replace the service's remaining Cessna T-41D Mescaleros.

The new aircraft is based on Lancair's Legacy general aviation platform, but features a 20% larger wing with longer flaps, plus a redesigned vertical stabiliser and rudder.

"These changes yield a high-performance aircraft that is a stable, easy-to-fly training platform with a low stall speed," the US company says.
