Entre las diferencias, en el F-35 hay 6 motores extra, mientras que en el SH hay 16 (equiparían dos aviones más). Además, en el SH también se especifica equipamiento de repuesto a mayores como cañones (4 extra), MIDS (8 extra), equipos de guerra electrónica (15 extra), JHMCS (8 extra) y 264 lanzadores de misiles entre otras cosas que no se nombran en el caso del F-35. Por su parte, decir que este último sería superior en el caso del IRST, donde solo se ofertan 27 para los F/A-18. El armamento es el mismo, pero en el caso del SH se explicitan los contenedores, cosa que no se hace en el otro competidor. La últmia diferencia, también importante, es que cuatro SH serían biplazas mientras que en el caso del Lightning II, evidentemente todos son monoplazas.
Sin embargo, estos detalles no parecen justificar la diferencia de precio ($24 millones por unidad), por lo que creo que en el SH hay mucho más margen para negociar, y es que el precio que paga por ellos EEUU está bastante lejos de esas cifras.
