US approved sale of additional C-130H transporters to Morocco and Tunisia
The United States has approved the request of both Tunisia and Morocco to transfer four C-130H Hercules' from its surplus inventory - most probably, the aircraft are currently stored at AMARG - to their respective militaries. Both countries already use the C-130H Hercules for a longer period.
The Alkowat al malakiya al jawiya (RMAF, Royal Moroccan Air Force) has sixteen C-130H Hercules in their active inventory, of which two have been modified as KC-130H tankers and one has been modified as an EC-130H. The first transporters were delivered in 1974. All aircraft are operated by the Escadre de Transport at 3 Air Base Kenitra air base.
The Al Quwwat al-Jawwiya At'Tunisia (TAF, Tunisian Air Force) has a mixed fleet of C-130B, C-130H Hercules and strikingly also brand-new C-130J-30 Super Hercules'. The first aircraft, two C-130H transporters, were delivered in 1985. In 1997, five surplus C-130Bs were delivered from the USA. It is reported that five TAF Hercules' are still on the current active inventory, one C-130H, two C-130B and two C-130J-30s.
