El 12 de mayo, alrededor de las 9:40 p.m., el último vuelo nocturno de entrenamiento tuvo lugar con un avión de entrenamiento Alphajet desde la base aérea 705 de Tours. Este evento marcó el final de 59 años de presencia de la Escuela de Aviación de Caza [EAC 00.134] en Indre-et-Loire.

Se organizaría una ceremonia este 14 de mayo para pasar definitivamente esta página. Pero, debido a la epidemia de Covid-19, se canceló . Y se aplazó el macarrón de la última promoción del sistema de armas de los estudiantes pilotos y oficiales de navegación [NOSA].

Creada en 1943 en Marrakech y después de haber recibido varias denominaciones, la Escuela de Caza "Christian Martell" fue transferida a Tours en 1961 con sus seis escuadrones, incluido uno dedicado a la formación de pilotos en aeronáutica naval. Para reducir costos y optimizar el entrenamiento de sus futuros pilotos, la Fuerza Aérea decidió transferir el EAC a Cognac y reemplazar el Alphajet con motores turbopropulsores Pilatus PC-21.

La primera promoción de pilotos y NOSA para inaugurar este nuevo curso comenzó su capacitación en junio de 2019. Esto sonó a muerte por la presencia del EAC en Tours, cuya plataforma aeronáutica se cerrará en julio de 2021. Para entonces allí, Rafale y Mirage 2000 continuarán asegurando una permanencia operativa.

Por el momento, se desconoce el destino del Alphajet del EAC [habría otros veinte]. Los dispositivos de este tipo todavía se utilizan dentro de la Escuela de Transformación Operativa de Cazaux. Pero sus días también están contados.

De hecho, la Fuerza Aérea lanzó el programa "MENTOR", que planea reemplazar la transición operativa de los jóvenes pilotos con una fase complementaria que tendría lugar en Cognac. Esto implica la implementación de 8 PC-21 adicionales. Se publicó un aviso de mercado para este fin en febrero pasado.

A new engine concept from NASA's Glenn Research Center allows for truly distributed propulsion. The concept enables airframe and system modularity by allowing parts to be swapped or repaired easily. Design changes can be applied to individual components and not the entire propulsion system. The NASA Glenn innovation eliminates heavy shafts and disks and allows for airplane modularity as well. This design also enables subsonic to high supersonic flight with the same flowpath. If parts are damaged during flight, only a small percentage of thrust is lost. In addition, the blades can be retracted to enable ramjet or scramjet mode.

The novel NASA Glenn design replaces a conventional jet engine with a linear array of flapping blades and diffusing vanes for compression, a combustor, and a linear array of expansion ducts. These expansion ducts convert thermal energy to magnetic energy using reverse magnetic hyperthermia where the turbine ducts are lined with superparamagnetic composites that respond to thermal loads by generating alternating magnetic fields. The magnetic energy can be used to drive the electromagnetic actuators required for flapping. Kinetic energy is delivered to the air using rapid oscillations rather than by rotation. This is converted to internal energy by the vanes.

La cosa está que arde. Durante unos días, hubo enfrentamientos de tropas chinas con fuerzas indias en el estado de Sikkim. Lo que inicialmente parecía un lamentable incidente fronterizo hoy se convierte en un enfrentamiento real donde China ya no duda en enviar helicópteros armados a las posiciones indias. La Fuerza Aérea de la India incluso se vio obligada a enviar dos aparatos de combate a la zona. aquí

La continua llegada de aviones al aeropuerto de Teruel como consecuencia del parón aéreo para su estacionamiento y mantenimiento en las instalaciones de Tarmac Aragón ha permitido a esta empresa levantar el expediente de regulación temporal de empleo (ERTE) que aplicó al 25% de la plantilla a finales de marzo. El complejo aeronáutico turolense alcanza las 98 aeronaves de gran tamaño estacionadas –frente a las 77 de hace solo dos meses–, entre ellas nueve A380, el avión de pasajeros más grande que existe actualmente.

Junto con el continuo cierre de aerolíneas, la oportunidad para buscar y adquirir algunos aviones que releven a los A310.

La semana pasada, como parte de su programa UJTS [Undergraduate Jet Training System], el Mando de Sistemas Aéreos Navales [NAVAIR] emitió un aviso para obtener información sobre un nuevo avión de entrenamiento (jet), que tiene la intención de poner en servicio en 2028.

La sorpresa es que el NAVAIR está buscando un avión ya existente y lo suficientemente robusto como para soportar altas tasas de descenso para llevar a cabo un "touch and go" en un portaaviones y simulaciones de aterrizaje en tierra [Field Carrier Landing Practice - FCLP]. No necesitará estar equipado con un gancho de aterrizaje. En términos de rendimiento, este avión debe tener un techo operativo de 41.000 pies y poder volar al menos a 600 nudos.

En el mercado, tres aviones podrían igualar lo que NAVAIR quiere: el T-7A Red Hawk [Boeing / Saab], el T-100 [derivado del Leonardo M-346 Master] y el T-50A [Lockheed-Martin / KAI Aerospace].

Por el momento, no está claro si se trata de reemplazar todos los T-45C o si se trata de completar la flota de Aviones de entrenamiento por un nuevo avión. Esto aliviaría a los Goshawks, cuya tasa de disponibilidad es regularmente considerada insuficiente por la Oficina de Responsabilidad del Gobierno (Tribunal de Cuentas) y la Inspección General del Pentágono. Va a resultar un cambio importante en la formación de pilotos navales.

Esta decisión también puede afectar a la aeronáutica naval francesa que envía a sus pilotos a formarse en los Estados Unidos. Teóricamente, la navy puede pasar este tipo de calificación con Super Hornet biplaza, con la condición de dedicar algunos aviones de este tipo a misiones de entrenamiento pero no sería posible para los franceses, pues el Rafale Marine no existe en versión biplaza.
