SRC Inc., North Syracuse, New York, was awarded a $425,870,432 hybrid (cost-no-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee, firm-fixed-price) contract for development, production, deployment and support of the Expeditionary-Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aircraft System Integrated Defeat System (E-LIDS). Bids were solicited via the internet with one received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of July 26, 2025. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity (W31P4Q-20-D-0032).

Industry completed the program’s definition study a year ago, and negotiations currently focus on the cost of development and production, for which industry has requested about €10 billion, according to media reports, while governments are unwilling to spend much more than €7 billion. Time is running out if the original goal of a first flight in 2025 is to be met. Its service introduction is not now feasible until 2028, according to a July 22 report by the National Assembly on the preservation of the Defense Industrial Base.

Es normal que [Euromale] se salga de precio. Por ejemplo, para una serie tan corta no se necesita desarrollar un motor nuevo con su transmisión, lo mismo que muchos otros componentes. Lo que hay que hacer es coger lo que hay en el mercado e integrarlo de una manera rápida y eficaz. El problema es que estos programas se diseñan desde industria y no desde defensa...

Por otra parte, da bastante igual: en pocos semestres la computer vision complementará cada vez más al GPS y con ello no habrá forma de hacer jamming a un UAV
