 Ejercitaron a fondo verdaderas misiones multirol, haciendo AA y AS simultáneo.

Published 10th November 2017 by Eurofighter
...
The contract is a complex one and requires such capabilities to be delivered into two subsequent releases, the first to be part of the aircraft at its entry into service and the second 24 months after.

Giancarlo Mezzanatto, Eurofighter Programme Unit Vice President of the Leonardo Aircraft Division explains:

The capability packages granted to Kuwait will include the integration of Storm Shadow and Brimstone and other air-to-surface weapons. These features enrich the multi-role characteristics of the aircraft and enhance the weapon system in a role in which the aircraft is excelling since 2011 with the operations over Libya and now Syria and Iraq.

“Moreover this configuration foresees the integration of a  new advanced laser designator pod (the Lockheed Martin Sniper) that will expand Eurofighter portfolio of cleared laser designator pods, the introduction of the DRS-Cubic ACMI P5 combat training pod, an enhanced navigation aid (VOR) and the E-Scan radar CAPTOR with its antenna repositioner.”
...
“This new radar, developed and produced by the Euroradar consortium, which is led by Leonardo, underpins the Typhoon’s current and future capability evolution.

“As far as the overall package is concerned, today we are well into the development phase. The Avionic System design has been completed and  we are currently designing and coding the software”.

Production of the Eurofighter Typhoon for Kuwait

Soon after the contract signature, the production activities have begun in order to comply with the contract and the Customer expectations. Long Lead Time items procurement has been immediately activated and the Supply Chain has been mobilized.

“Since the second half of 2016 the production activities started with details manufacturing – Says Mezzanatto - These activities are in line with the baseline plan and in some cases even ahead of schedule.

“The first left hand wing at Leonardo and right hand wing at Airbus Defence & Space in Spain have already completed the manufacturing of the wing skins in composite materials and are going to start the assembly phase before the end of this year.

“The first rear fuselage section is going to start the “Stage 2” assembly phase at Leonardo in early 2018 while the “Stage 1” assembly phase is already running in BAE Systems for the first 5 aircraft.

“The center fuselage section, produced by Airbus Defence & Space in Germany, will start the assembly in the first half of 2018 having already commenced the “pre-assy” phase according to the plan.

“The UK Eurofighter Partner Company BAE Systems has begun the assembly of the front fuselage sections and today more than 10 front fuselages are in production at different stages of progress. The first front fuselage section is now ready to start the equipping phase.
...

Infrastructures for Kuwait MOB

The activities to establish infrastructures in Kuwait to operate the aircraft are also proceeding according to the plans. The detail design has already been completed with the finalization of all data packages. The construction activities have started in August this year.
...

The Kuwait Contract

On 5th of April 2016 a contract between the Ministry of Defence of the State of Kuwait and the Leonardo Aircraft Division (acting as Prime Contractor Organisation) was signed to supply 28 Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role fighter aircraft. The delivery of the aircraft will start in 2020 and will be completed in 2023 making Kuwait the aircraft’s eight customer.

The agreement with the Kuwait MoD also includes services to operate the Eurofighter fleet at its best such as the design and construction of the infrastructures at the Al-Salem Air Base and the initial support services for three years (with an option for a further five).

This includes the supply of equipment and a suite of training devices to establish a pilot Operational Conversion Unit in Kuwait.

Interesante Champi.
Por cierto:
Storm Shadow and Brimstone and other air-to-surface weapons.

RAF talks up Typhoon interoperability with F-35
13 November, 2017

...a top Royal Air Force officer explained... how the Eurofighter Typhoon is already demonstrating how a non-stealthy fighter can integrate with the Lockheed Martin F-35 in contested airspace.
The Typhoon is already equipped to send and receive data with the F-35s on Link 16... But Link-16 uses an omnidirectional antenna that is not compatible with the... MADL that the F-35 uses to communicate with other F-35s while in stealth mode inside contested airspace.
But the Typhoon has already demonstrated the capability to transmit and receive data with the F-35 in training flights and exercises in the USA, says Air Vice-Marshall Gerry Mayhew, air officer commanding for the RAF’s No 1 Group. “This is not something we’re dreaming of. This is something we’re doing,” Mayhew says. “We’re already operating fourth- and fifth-gen fighters in exercises in training. This is also using new systems as well as the Link 16 systems.”

Asked to elaborate on the new systems that allow the Typhoon to transmit and receive data with F-35s flying in communications stealth mode, Mayhew declined, saying he could not talk about the technology. But the public record offers clues about the solution that is referred to by Mayhew. Last February, Northrop Grumman announced that the RAF held an event in the Mojave desert in California called Exercise High Rider [puse aquí la noticia]. The exercise included an demonstration called Babel Fish III. An F-35 transmitted data from MADL to a Northrop-designed airborne gateway system [BACN], which translated the message into a waveform that could be interpreted by the Link 16 radio on board an RAF GR.4 Tornado.

...
Monday 2 October: With Syrian Democratic Forces continuing to fight Daesh to the north-east of Dayr az Zawr, a Royal Air Force Reaper remotely piloted aircraft flew overwatch. An SDF unit reported being engaged in close combat with several terrorists, and the Reaper’s crew intervened, successfully targeting the extremists with a Hellfire missile attack.

Wednesday 4 October: A flight of  Typhoons supported Iraqi forces as they advanced to liberate Hawijah. Our aircraft used Paveway IV guided bombs to remove two threats which the Iraqi troops encountered: a terrorist mortar team, and a truck-bomb which was blocking a road to the north-east of the town. Meanwhile, a pair of Tornados were tasked to deal with a second truck-bomb which had been positioned by terrorists to the north-east of Bayji. The vehicle was destroyed by a direct hit from a Brimstone missile.

Thursday 5 October: Intelligence had confirmed that a group of three buildings in eastern Syria, some forty miles south-east of Hasakah and close to a border crossing into Iraq, was being used as a base by Daesh. Two Typhoons conducted a carefully planned attack, each of the three buildings being struck with a Paveway IV.

Friday 6 October: a Reaper again patrolled north-east of Dayr az Zawr; its crew delivered attacks with Hellfire missiles on three groups of terrorists, including one manning a heavy weapon, and also supported two further strikes by coalition aircraft. Two Tornados supported the Syrian Democratic Forces inside Raqqa as they cleared remaining terrorist positions in the north-west of the city. Despite the SDF being very close to the target, the Tornados delivered a precision attack with a Paveway on a Daesh group firing from a building.

Saturday 7 October:  Typhoons also operated over Raqqa, and bombed three further terrorist positions in the north-west of the city.

Thursday 12 October: This included two Tornado GR4s providing close air support to the Syrian Democratic Forces in Raqqah. A Paveway IV guided bomb was deployed to target the upper storeys of a building from which a Daesh sniper was firing, and a second weapon struck another building from which terrorists were engaged in a combat with the SDF.

Monday 9 October: a Reaper spotted a concealed truck-bomb, which allowed a coalition fast jet to destroy it with an accurate strike. The Reaper then dealt with a second such truck-bomb using its own Hellfire missiles, which resulted in a very large secondary explosion when the vehicle was hit, proving the presence of explosives.

Tuesday 10 October: a further Reaper armed reconnaissance mission identified a terrorist setting up a machine-gun position; he was killed by a Hellfire shortly after he opened fire. The Reaper’s crew used a second Hellfire to destroy an armoured truck manned by several Daesh extremists, again to the north-east of Dayr az Zawr.

Thursday 12 October: over western Iraq, another Tornado flight dropped four Paveways on a Daesh camp in the desert, some 60 miles south-west of Ramadi.

Friday 13 October: A Reaper was again in action north-east of Dayr az Zawr; its crew observed a mortar being fired from a compound and scored a direct on the position with a Hellfire. The Reaper’s crew then provided surveillance support to a coalition air strike on another position in the area.

Saturday 14 October: a Reaper successfully engaged one small group of terrorists with a Hellfire, then provided support to two air strikes on further extremists operating on foot nearby.

Friday 20 October: a Reaper aircraft operated to the north-east of Dayr az Zawr. Observing a group of armed terrorists taking up position in a building ahead of the Syrian Democratic Forces, it fire a single Hellfire missile scoring a direct hit on the building and eliminating the group inside.

Wednesday 25 October: A flight of Tornados was alerted to a group of terrorists who had been spotted concealing themselves in a culvert under a road to the south-east of Dayr az Zawr, close to Syrian Democratic Forces. A Paveway IV guided bomb was used in a successful attack on the entrance to the culvert.

Thursday 26 October: two Tornados used Paveway IVs to target a pair of buildings, some 20 miles east of Al Qaim in western Iraq, where a number of extremists were present, with stockpiles of weapons. Both buildings were demolished by direct hits.

Friday 27 October: A further Tornado patrol in the area of Al Qaim identified a terrorist supply lorry; it was destroyed with a Brimstone missile. In the Euphrates valley to the west of Ash Shirwaniyah, a second Tornado flight meanwhile used a pair of Paveway IVs to strike a Daesh-held building, then used another Brimstone to knock out an armed truck.

Sunday 29 October:  Typhoon FGR4s supported the Syrian Democratic Forces south-east of Dayr az Zawr, attacking a terrorist position with a Paveway. In western Iraq, two Tornados conducted simultaneous attacks on a command post and a weapons stockpile, both located some five miles south of Husaybah.
