=ASI&s=AIR
SEOUL - South Korea's arms procurement agency plans in April to release a request for proposals for its "VC-X" program to buy a presidential plane, according to government and industry sources here on Jan. 31.
...
For the VC-X, the presidential office wants an airplane with a seating capacity of about 150 and can make a non-stop flight to Europe.

Candidates include Boeing's 777 and 747-8 airplanes, and the Airbus A340M, according to the DAPA official.

Es curioso que no se mencione al A330, que cumple los requisitos y que además es más barato que los citados...

Myanmar compra 2 An-148 para transporte de personal y VIP: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... sport.html
Ilyushin Finance has secured an order from the Myanmar government for two Antonov An-148 regional jets that will be used for passenger and VIP transport. The South-East Asian country is also in discussion to buy the smaller An-140 twin-engined turboprop, as is its neighbour Laos.

"This year's delivery slots for the An-148 are full," says Antonov, which adds that the An-148s will be delivered "no later than 2011".

The Ukrainian airframer confirms that talks are also under way with the Laos government for the sale of around three An-140s, but a deal has yet to be concluded.

Laos took delivery of a VIP-configured An-74TK-300D regional jet in October 2009, says Antonov, adding that Egypt and Libya are among its governmental customers for the An-74.

Eurocopter presenta un EC-145 al estilo Mercedes-Benz: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... ec145.html
By Niall O'Keeffe

Eurocopter (stand 7010) has unveiled a new EC145 design concept developed by Mercedes-Benz.
The "Mercedes-Benz style" edition of the midsized, twin-engined helicopter - which can accommodate eight passengers - was designed at the automotive manufacturer's studio in Como, Italy.
The modular, high-end design was inspired by Mercedes-Benz's R-Class range of cars. It is intended to optimise interior space, and to be suited to business, VIP, or leisure travel.
Seat upholstery is available in deluxe materials and a range of colours. For the floor, operators can choose between various types of wood. Wood panels are also used in the ceiling.

All seats are mounted on rails to ease reconfiguration, and each of three multifunction boxes is equipped with a cool box, cup holder, table, monitor and DVD player, with extra storage space provided by drawers.
A partition wall with windows separates the cabin from the cockpit. The cabin deploys the same ambient cabin lighting used on Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class vehicles.

Polonia sustituye sus Tu-154M por Embraer E175-200LR: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... sport.html
By Olivier Bonnassies

The Polish government is purchasing two Embraer E175-200LR airliners from LOT Polish Airlines to replace its Tupolev Tu-154M fleet.

Both aircraft, MSN 283 and MSN 285, are equipped with GE CF34-8E5 engines. They were delivered to LOT Polish Airlines in 2009.

Flightglobal understands that the E175s will be initially crewed by LOT and the Polish air force presidential division (36th Special Air Transport Regiment) will operate the aircraft on VIP duties on behalf of the ministry of defence.

The Polish air force owns two Tu-154M aircraft, one of which crashed in Russia in April.

LOT Polish Airlines took delivery of two additional E175s (MSN 306 and MSN 311) aircraft at the end of May. Its backlog now stands at two more aircraft of the type after it converted four E175s to the E195 model.

Israel quiere un nuevo avión presidencial: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... craft.html
By Arie Egozi

The Israel government has issued a request for information for a VIP-configured aircraft dedicated to transporting the Israeli president and prime minister on foreign visits.

These missions are now undertaken by one of the Israeli airlines. Before that, the head of state would be transported in an Israeli air force Boeing 707.

The RFI lists three options - a dedicated aircraft for these official flights, a dual-use aircraft that will be operated by an airline between the official flights, and a long-term agreement with an airline, under which one of its aircraft will be converted to VIP configuration at short notice.

The operator must be an Israeli company, the RFI dictates, and the requirement is for an aircraft able to carry up to 120 passengers in a three-class configuration. The front section will be modified to include an office with secure communications systems, a bedroom and other facilities and systems.

The RFI includes an option for a dual-use aircraft that will be operated by the Israeli air force.

07-Oct-2010 12:44 EDT

On Sept 30/10, the US DSCA announced [PDF] Germany's official request to buy 6 AN/AAQ-24v Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures Systems (LAIRCM) defensive systems, to equip its 2 Airbus A319CJs, and 4 Bombardier Challenger 601 VIP jets. The estimated cost is $146 million, and the prime contractor will be the Northrop Grumman Corporation in Rolling Meadows, IL. If a contract is negotiated, the order could include up to 5 Control Interface Units, 4 System Processors, 32 AAR-54 Missile Warning Systems, and 8 Small Laser Transmitter Assemblies; plus Operation Flight Program software, installation support, some requested modifications, support equipment, spare and repair parts, publications and technical documents, repair and return, depot maintenance, training and training equipment, and other forms of U.S. Government and contractor support.

A380 VIP para el príncipe Al Waleed Bin Talal: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... r-vip.html
By Kate Sarsfield

Airbus plans to deliver the first green VIP A380 in the second half of next year.

The widebody airliner was ordered three years ago by Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal, who has yet to select a company to complete the aircraft, says Airbus vice-president executive and private aviation Francois Chazelle. Only a handful of completion centres have the capacity to undertake a project on this scale, he says. These include Switzerland's Jet Aviation and AMAC Aerospace, and Germany's Lufthansa Technik.

Chazelle says there is a market for around 30 VIP A380s with the bulk of the demand coming from the Middle East. The aircraft has 551m2 (5,930ft2) of floorspace - 30% more than its nearest rival the Boeing 747 - and the accommodation is spread across two complete decks. This suits the Middle Eastern culture, where men and women are often segregated. The next VIP A380 delivery slot is in the middle of the decade.

Four Airbus types are on display in the static park. Al Jaber Aviation is showcasing its A318 Elite for the first time. The aircraft is the first of its type in the Middle East to be dedicated for charter operations. Germany's DC Aviation is displaying its Airbus Corporate Jetliner along with Switzerland's Comlux Aviation, which is also exhibiting its Elite.
