Main Characteristics of the aircraft:
í˜ Dimensions: 14.55m (length) x 9.24m (wingspan) x 3.53m (height)
í˜ Weight: 6'742 kg empty, 14'969 kg max (STOL), 16'000 lb max useful load, 13'200 lb max external load capability
í˜ Propulsion: one Rolls-Royce Pegasus F402 RR-408A turbofan engine (23'800 lb thrust)
í˜ Performances: 585-650 kts (Mach 0.98 ); 50'000 ft ceiling; 2'000+ nm ferry range, 200nm range for ground attack (Hi-Lo-Hi, 2.7 tons ammunition), 150nm range for ground attack (Lo-Lo-Lo, 2.7 tons ammunition), 430nm range for surface attack with underwing fuel tanks, between 1h30min and 2hours “time on station”CAP endurance at 100nm; in-flight refuelling capability.
í˜ Avionics: Raytheon AN/APG-65(v)2 multimode radar (look-down/shoot-down, PRF, TWS, multiple air target tracking, Doppler, SAR, ground mapping, fixed and moving ground target track, terrain avoidance, sea surface search), FLIR (Forward Looking Infra-Red), Raytheon AN/ALR-67 Radar Warning Receiver, AN/ALE-39 chaff and flare dispensers, AN/ALQ-164 ECM pod; Rafael/Northrop AN/AAQ-28 Litening II targeting and reconnaissance pod; inertial laser and GPS navigation system; HUD and 2 MPCD multifunction colour displays; digital maps; HOTAS; AN/AVS-9 ANVIS NVG (Night Vision Goggles); V/UHF, HF and protected communications systems (KY-58, ARC-210, Have Quick I/II); ATHS link (Automatic Target Handover System).
í˜ Armament: Raytheon AIM-120B AMRAAM advanced medium-range air-to-air missile (inertial mid-course, active radar terminal homing, 70+ km range); Raytheon AIM-9L Sidewinder short-range air-to-air missile (all-angle, infrared homing, 20+ km range); Raytheon/Hughes AGM-65 E/F/G Maverick air-to-surface missiles (laser or IIR-guided); 113kg/250-lb Mk.81, 226kg/500-lb Mk.82 (including with Snakeye kits) and 454kg/1'000-lb Mk.83 free-fall bombs, GBU-16 1'000-lb and GBU-12 500-lb laser-guided bombs (Texas Instruments Paveway II laser guidance system), Boeing JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) being fitted, Mk.20 Rockeye cluster systems, LAU 2.75”and 5”unguided rocket pods, GAU-12/U 25mm gatling gun (300 rounds).
Typical examples of weapons load:
í˜ Air defence role: two AIM-9L Sidewinder, two AIM-120 AMRAAM and two fuel tanks.
í˜ Ground attack role: one aircraft armed with two GBU-16 or GBU-12 laser-guided bombs, and the other aircraft with a Rafael/Northrop Litening II targeting pod, in addition to another weapon; both aircrafts would at least carry a couple of AIM-9L Sidewinder for self-defense, and two fuel tanks; could carry AGM-65 air-to-ground missiles in lieu of bombs; the use of the GAU-12/U 25mm gatling gun system would depend on the situation.
í˜ Naval strike role: at least two AGM-65F air-launched missiles
