The Turkish Navy offers for Vietnamese consideration the newest Turkish-built class of MILGEM corvettes. These cutting edge vessels, produced by Istanbul Naval Shipyard, offer a wide array of naval capabilities and technologies which would see Vietnam operate some of the region's most advanced corvettes. Though quite larger than the VPN's tender requirement (~100m long, ~2000 tons), this vessel is equipped with two CIWS guns (retractable, to reduce RCS), eight anti-ship missiles, 2 torpedoes, and an extensive 21 anti-air missiles, which would meet the Vietnamese's requirements for extensive anti-submarine and anti-air capabilities to defend Vietnam's extensive coastline. Additionally, these ships are equipped with extensive stealth technologies, including the ship's structural design; aesthetic scheme (radar-absorbing paint); the advanced Surface Ship Torpedo Defence system of decoys, radar reflectors, and countermeasures; as well as ship radar jammers for advanced stealth protection.
The Turkish Navy can sell Vietnam these ships for $200 million per vessel, which would include extensive support, maintenance, training, as well as one T-70 naval attack helicopter (Turkish-modified S-70B Seahawk.) For an additional $45 million, Turkey could include the NHI NH90 helicopter instead. This ship could be available for Vietnam by the end of 2015. Should Vietnam be interested in additional vessels, Turkey would be open to allowing Vietnam to build certain portions of the vessel indigenously under Turkish supervision.
