The Ngsw-Next generation squad weapon will have to replace the Lmg M249 ( Ngsw-Ar ) and the assault rifle M4 ( Ngsw-R in the opening photo ) in 5.56x45 for the Brigades combat teams (frontline forces) American. Recall that at the moment there are three companies selected as the first finalists for this program: in addition to General Dynamics – Beretta with True velocity, there are also Aai Textron systems – Heckler & Koch with Olin Winchester and Sig Sauer Inc.
The "Italian-American" proposal called Rm277 stands out among the other competitors for the bull-pup conformation adopted for both its variants. The differences between the Ngsw-Ar (Lmg version) and the Ngsw-R (assault rifle) are minimal : both adopt a new gas operation system and short recoil defined by the company gas-assisted recoil operation , the same moderator of sound of Delta pi (with design internal flow-through that is, devoid of traditional deflectors), both have ambidextrous controls, throttle reversible armament on the sides and special polymeric chargers of 30 rounds capacity.
The Lmg or Ngsw-Ar version (light machine gun in the photo below ), is different for a slightly longer fluted barrel and a foldable bipod under the hand guard. On the upper part of the shaft there is a long MilStd 1913 slide and on the sides M-lok attachments for mounting additional sections of slides.
The .277 Tvcm ammunition (last photo below), developed from the American True velocity, has a polymer-metal hybrid case: the body of the case is made of polymer and goes to hug a metal bottom bottom leaving only the rim of the cartridge exposed . The diameter of the .277 Tvcm ball is the 6.8 mm chosen by the US Army for the Ngsw program. An interesting detail is that the case is practically without a collar and has a barely hinted shoulder. We still remember that, according to the wishes of the program, the performance of the new 6.8 ammunition should be close to those of a .270 Wsm.
Después, todo lo que dices es cierto... en abstracto.
